Scrap Metal FAQ
Common questions about selling scrap metal to Short Creek Construction.
Ferrous metals contain iron and are magnetic, including steel, iron, and stainless steel. Non-ferrous metals do not contain iron and are not magnetic, including aluminum, copper, brass, and lead. Non-ferrous metals typically command higher prices due to their recyclability and industrial demand.
Pricing is based on current commodity market rates for each metal type. We monitor London Metal Exchange and domestic market prices daily. Rates vary based on quality, quantity, and market conditions. We provide quotes before processing and always explain our pricing methodology.
While pre-sorting helps and may improve pricing, it's not required. Our facility can handle mixed loads and will sort materials upon receipt. However, pre-sorted materials typically receive better rates as they require less processing.
For commercial transactions, business documentation is helpful. For individual sellers, we require a valid government-issued photo ID. All transactions require identification for compliance with environmental regulations and record-keeping requirements.
We offer immediate cash payment for smaller transactions. For larger amounts, we provide check payments, electronic transfers, and can set up recurring payment schedules for regular commercial partners. Payment details are discussed during the quoting process.
